Starting Friday, Jan. 27, South Carolina residents purchasing new, Energy Star qualified appliances will be eligible to receive rebates from $50 to $100 through Feb. 5. The rebates are available through the state’s remaining portion of the appliance rebate stimulus program, according to a release.
Qualifying appliances include Energy Star labeled clothes washers, dishwashers, refrigerators and room air conditioning units (window units). Eligible clothes washers will receive a $100 rebate. Dishwashers, refrigerators and room air conditioning units will receive $50 rebates.
To participate in the program, South Carolina residents must replace an existing appliance in their primary residence with a new, Energy Star appliance of the same type.
The old appliance must be hauled away and disposed of properly. After purchasing Energy Star appliances at South Carolina retailers, the customer must submit a rebate application and receipt postmarked within five calendar days of the purchase.
The application can be found at www.energy.sc.gov/rebates. Only one rebate per appliance type per household is allowed through this program.
