At Valentine's Day, roses are usually the flower of choice for gifts. I've researched the prices for a dozen roses at grocery stores and floral shops to help you find the cheapest roses in town.
At grocery and retail stores, Walmart seems to have the lowest prices on roses. A dozen roses cost $15. The bouquet selection and style vary by store, according to a sales insert. The sale starts today and ends Valentine's Day.
Kroger comes in second, with a dozen of private selection roses, in assorted varieties, for $17.99. The sale starts today and ends Saturday.
At Bi-Lo, a bouquet of a dozen roses costs $19.99. The sale starts Wednesday and ends Feb. 16.
Walgreens also has a bouquet of a dozen premium roses for $19.99. The sale starts today and ends Saturday.
AT YOUR DOOR: I called every florist in the telephone book and found the lowest price at Southern Floral Designers. (Some florists either had not set their prices or didn't return my call before this article was written.)
A dozen roses at Southern Floral Designers is $49.95, with a $8 delivery fee. The florist will be closed Sunday, and doesn't make deliveries to Aiken, said florist Ashley Tuten. Customers can visit the florist at 4759 Washington Road or call (706) 855-5035.

Amie's Flowers & Weddings has a dozen roses for $59.95 if customers order by Tuesday. The florist will deliver Sundays, and the delivery fee ranges from $8 to $15, depending on distance, said floral designer Madolyn Hinton.
Garden Cottage is close behind, with a dozen red roses starting at $60. Prices vary based on the size of the roses, said owner Shelley Krom. The florist will make deliveries Sundays. The fee is $8 through Saturday and $10 on Sunday. For a Sunday delivery, customers must place orders by 4 p.m. Friday.
Amelia's Buds & Blooms Florist has a dozen roses for $65. The delivery fee is $8 to $12, depending on distance. There is no order too small for delivery, said owner Amelia Pate.
