I moved to Augusta in 2008 to cover religion for the Chronicle. I didn't know a soul this far South at the time, but the area is quickly becoming home. Before then, I covered the cop beat and crime while working at a newspaper in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. I got my start in Virginia writing features for a community weekly while in college.

The CenturyMen in concert

The CenturyMen, a 100-member men’s chorus of professional Christian musicians who are ministers of music, will perform a free concert in Augusta. It's 6:30 p.m. Sept. 16 at First Baptist Church of Augusta, 3500 Walton Way.

The group’s Augusta performance is part of its 2012 Southern concert tour, which begins Friday with the group singing the national anthem at the Atlanta Braves game.

The CenturyMen were established in 1969 and have members from across the United States and Germany, said Stan Pylant, the minister of music at First Baptist Church and a member of The CenturyMen.
