INSIDE JAMES BROWN ARENA -- Viewing has begun for the body of James Brown -- dressed in a black suit with rhinestones and a red shirt.
Nearby is a large, 4-by-3 foot painting of the Godfather of Soul, singing in front of a microphone, holding up his hand in front of a background of blue sky, clouds and water.
Meanwhile, officials said concession stands at the arena will be open throughout the day, selling the usual fare of sodas, water, popcorn and hot dogs for the thousands of people expected to attend today's services.
However, civic center officials drew the line with alcohol at the Godfather of Soul's funeral. They will not serve beer.

Tacky was my first thought
Tacky was my first thought too. Popcorn and hotdogs? While viewing the deceased? Yuck.
Tacky? He is the Godfather
Tacky? He is the Godfather of SOUL. It's nothing Tacky about that!
Keep in mind two things. 1)
Keep in mind two things. 1) Some of the people at the arena will have been in line or sitting in seats for upwards of nine hours; they need to eat. 2) This is a service, but it's also a show. It's what people want and expect. The people from here who grew up loving James Brown would have nothing less.
Tacky, yes. But imagine
Tacky, yes. But imagine being there yourself for six or eight hours, hanging around one place with nothing to drink or eat. Wouldn't you get awfully hungry and thirsty? And what about those who *need* to eat? So what...don't show up if you're diabetic? Would it be less tacky to smuggle in food and drink? And it's not like they are going to just give food away. Remember that there's no such thing as a free lunch. So in a practical way, it does make sense, even if it sounds tacky on the surface. Perhaps if they had called it something other than "concessions," it wouldn't sound so bad.
I know this might sound like
I know this might sound like I'm nit picking, but, didn't he have on a blue sequin suit with silver shoes? And now he is wearing a black suit with rhinestones and a red shirt?....... Well he was always a snazzy dresser too, can't forget that, he always dressed real nice and neat and he always did his hair nice too. James Brown was not bad looking at all, at all. And he was a terrific dancer, I know if he would have danced with me he would have fell in love with me, cuz I dance good too............bye James Brown, we love you in New York!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!sincerely BillieLynn Holt jonniesgurl77777@yahoo.com
