Monday, June 24 - 7:05 p.m.
Savannah Sand Gnats (1-3, 44-29)
Jake Kuebler (39.2 IP, 2.50 ERA, 3.28 FIP, 19.2 K%, 3.2 BB%, .278 BABIP)
Augusta GreenJackets (2-2, 40-33)
Joe Biagini (56.2 IP, 3.81 ERA, 2.95 FIP, 18.8 K%, 7.5 BB%, .289 BABIP)
Savannah's starter is an infielder-turned-pitcher picked in the 17th round of the 2008 draft out of a Nebraska high school. Kuebler skipped college to turn pro for the Royals, but after five seasons of hitting .222 he was released.
Kuebler is trying to reinvent himself as a pitcher in the Mets system, and so far so good for the right-hander. He has made four starts and 12 total appearances, including three against Augusta. His first career start came against the GreenJackets on May 25, throwing four scoreless innings with four strikeouts.
Kuebler is being activated from the disabled list for Monday's start, missing a little more than a week with back tightness.
Biagini turned his season around midway through May, and he has thrown at least five innings in each of his past five starts, allowing no more than two earned runs. He has faced the Sand Gnats three times this season, allowing just two runs in his past two starts against them, totaling 14 innings.
Lake Olmstead will see Savannah center fielder Brandon Nimmo for the first time. The Sand Gnats' last trip to Augusta was while Nimmo was on the disabled list. The first-round pick in 2012 out of a Wyoming high school is hitting .285/.384/.391 with a .363 wOBA, walking at an 11 percent clip.
