Gregorio to rehab oblique; Reyes reassigned

Augusta GreenJackets right-hander Joan Gregorio was sent to extended spring training Monday to rehab a strained oblique injury.

Gregorio is expected to work on building his pitch count in Arizona and return around the beginning of June, according to GreenJackets manager Mike Goff.

The tall Dominican has a 1.42 ERA in 19 innings this season, striking out 25 while walking only one. He suffered a strained oblique in his April 25 start at Hagerstown and has been on the disabled list since.

Right-hander Jose Reyes was reassigned to extended spring training following another shaky outing that resulted in him being pulled after only a third of an inning at Greenville, allowing four runs. Reyes allowed three runs or more in five of his six starts while going only five innings once.

In a corresponding move, the GreenJackets received left-hander Matthew Lujan, a San Francisco product who put up good numbers in Arizona last year. The 24-year-old had a 1.95 ERA in 37 innings, striking out 35 and walking 11.
