The RiverHawks will face the Fayetteville FireAntz for a league-high eighth time Thursday at Fayetteville. The RiverHawks are 2-5 against the second-place FireAntz, making them one of three teams to have two or more wins against Fayetteville.
Following Curtis Megginson's return to the lineup Friday, the RiverHawks will see the return of Dennis Sicard in the Fayetteville game. Sicard was suspended five games for fighting after regulation with Knoxville's Dan Bremner on Dec. 22. The right winger has four goals and six assists in 22 games this season.
"Obviously, he's a big energy guy for us," interim coach Mark Richards said.
Richards stressed the fact that Augusta will finally have the lines it desired early in the season, as Sicard joins Taylor McReynolds and Kyle Watson. He said the combination of Ian Watters, Shawn Skelly and Alex Morton has been solid lately, and Matt Auffrey's hot play has been important.
The RiverHawks will look to end the weekend on a strong note with Friday and Saturday's games at home. After the weekend, the team will be on the road from Jan. 15 to Feb. 10, as the Augusta Futurity takes over James Brown Arena.
The RiverHawks will have a new face for the week as they signed defenseman Joe Schiller. William Lacasse, the top scorer among defensemen on the RiverHawks, has been loaned to the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads.
