Santa Claus is seen boarding the elevator as he goes up to give presents to children Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010 at the Medical College of Georgia's Children's Medical Center in Augusta, Ga. Santa came to visit several children who were there for the holidays.

"Up on the elevator Santa pause...what?"

Not quite the lyrics to the original, but you get the idea.

People always say, "Wow, you had to work Christmas day? Tough break."

Quite honestly, it's actually nice to work on a holiday...once in awhile. Benefits include, a more laid back atmosphere, the "cool factor" for assignments and wonderful food in the newsroom.

On Christmas day I spent it at MCG's Children's Medical Center. This was hands down the best Santa I've seen up close. And I've produced three essays on Santa in my seven years as a journalist.

He had the beard. He had the swagger. He had the, "Ho, ho, ho," when he laughed. He had the toys. He had the rosy cheeks. He had the belly. He had the suit. But he had not the sleigh and reindeer. Rudolph was a Dodge Caravan.

This frame was taken on our way up to see the one child MCG allowed us to photograph. The green light worked, which actually was not flourescent light but green motherboards attached to the ceiling, to make it more "fun" for the children.

Kinda a quirkey off moment but I thought it was humorous seeing Santa taking the elevator.

Hope your holidays were merry and bright.

Best,
