Officials with the Georgia Department of Labor’s Augusta Career Center are coordinating with the University of Phoenix’s Augusta campus to host a job fair on the morning of November 19.

The event will featuring more than 45 organizations ranging from companies looking to hire to companies discussing future opportunities to groups offering education and other opportunities. Companies represented will include:

AAFES at Fort Gordon, ACRUX Staffing, AFLAC, Amerigroup, Beauti-Control, Beulah Grove Campus, Career Personnel, Century 21, East Central Regional Hospital, FPL Foods, Georgia Army National Guard, Georgia Pacific, Golden Rule Living, Hands To Lend, Home Depot, Jerome Personnel, Kelly Services, Mary Kay, Rescare, Richmond County School System, SCANA, Spherion, Sun Trust Bank, T-Mobile, Tupperware, U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Social Security Administration,  Waddell and Reed, Waffle House, and Yellow Pages.

To be held at the Augusta campus of the University of Phoenix, located at 3150 Perimeter Parkway, the event will last from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, November 19.

With local unemployment rate at 9.5 percent, officials expect a good turnout at the event.

“There are so many local residents in search of a good job,” said Ericka Hilliard, University of Phoenix – Augusta campus director. “We’re thrilled to present this opportunity for people to network with local employers and improve their situation.”

Georgia Department of Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said he expects attendees to find a variety of beneficial resources at the event.

“Our career expos have long proven to be effective tools for matching good employers with qualified job seekers,” said Commissioner Thurmond. “I encourage job seekers to attend and take full advantage of the resources that will be available at the career expo, as well as those at the Georgia Department of Labor’s Augusta Career Center.”
