Columbia County Chamber to host job event

The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce will combine its luncheon in October with a business expo and job fair.

The events will take place Tuesday, October 20, at Savannah Rapids Pavilion.

The luncheon starts at 11:30 a.m. with food from Carrabba’s Italian Grill.  Professional speaker and consultant Kim Marcille will speak.

The business expo and job fair will start at 1:30 p.m. after the luncheon.

Several workshops will be held throughout the day until the event ends at 5:30 p.m. The topics include “The U.S. Economic Outlook: Indicators of Signs of Recovery,” “Amp Up Your Business,” “Leveraging Financial Resources in a Tough Economy,” “If I’m So Smart, Why Am I Broke?” and “How to Control Out of Control Output Costs.”

Each workshop will last about 30 minutes, Shepherd said.

The expo and job fair are open to chamber members and others. There will be booths from area businesses, human resource representatives and educational vendors, Shepherd said.

Tickets for the luncheon cost $20, and admission to the expo and job fair is free.

“The professional development luncheons do really well with attendance, so it was just kind of natural to add the expo on it for the afternoon,” said Tammy Shepherd, the chamber’s vice president of business development.

Shepherd encourages reserving a spot at the luncheon by Friday, but reservations will be accepted through Monday.

For information or to make a reservation, call the chamber at (706) 651-0018.
