WAFJ hosts online job board

Local Christian radio station WAFJ offers its listeners a job board on the station’s website.

John Bryant, co-host of the station’s “John and Cleve in the Morning” radio show, says he started the board after hearing about a similar offering in Louisville, Ky.

“We were hearing all of the gloomy stats about unemployment and wanted to do something to provide hope to those who are without jobs,’ Bryant said. “It has been available for 5 months and the reaction has been phenomenal.”

Bryant said visitors to the station’s website can browse the listings for free, and employers are encouraged to submit jobs to be posted free of charge. Listings are occasionally featured on the air during the morning show.

“We believe that, as a Christian radio station, our audience is full of good people with great values,” Bryant said. “The employers tell me they like knowing that because it gives them a quality pool of applicants.”

The radio host said he has heard that more than a dozen listeners have found jobs through the service.

“One of my favorite success stories is a listener named Angela who called to give a gift during our fundraiser,” Bryant said. “She said that she found a job through our job board and it was the best job she'd ever had.”

“Success stories like that make our efforts worthwhile!”
