In memory of Dave Brubeck

With the passing of Dave Brubeck on Wednesday, one of the greatest innovators in jazz history is gone.

Fortunately, there are decades of recordings, including this 1966 video of one of his best known hits, Take 5. Whether it's Take 5, Blue Rondo a la Turk, In Your Own Sweet Way and dozens of others, his use of non-traditional time signatures changed jazz forever and challenged all musicans that follow in his footsteps. If your collection is missing the legendary Time Out, you're missing something special.

I'm relieved his music is trending, because, sadly, so is Last Christmas by Wham!. YouTube, or good taste, must be broken.
