Garret Siler to the Atlanta Hawks?

With the NBA Draft looming a day away, Garret Siler is waiting to see where he goes. He's worked out for teams like Dallas, Houston , Indiana and Miami. The most intriguing team he worked out for: Atlanta.

Mark Bradley of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution thinks the Hawks picking up Siler would be a solid move.

If Atlanta were to take Siler, here's what they'd be getting: an intelligent young man who can be molded into a solid NBA center. In his stint at Augusta State, the 7-0, 278-pound center went from being an unknown to an All-American.

If you've seen Garret recently, you've seen the chiseled figure. He has muscles coming out of muscles. And he's worked hard since Augusta State lost in the Division II Final Four game three months ago.

If Atlanta were to get Garret, the Hawks would fill their need for a big man. He's not a quick fix. But he's someone who has gobs of potential. Down the road, he could become a key contributor and a fan favorite.

Atlanta has the No. 49 pick, the 19th pick in the second round. There will be some people questioning the Hawks if they select Garret. But after seeing him play the past four years, I know the gamble will be worth it.

Interesting but I still

Interesting but I still think the San Antonio would be a better fit. They need to get younger and even though he is raw, he can learn from two of the best big men to ever play the game, Tim Duncan and “The Admiral” David Robinson.

Unless they make some kid of trade, the Spurs won’t be picking in round one. If Siler is still on the board in the second round I hope they take him. They could also use some help at shooting guard but I don’t know if anyone of value will be available at that spot.

Garret has mentioned before

Garret has mentioned before wanting to go to San Antonio. He's a big Tim Duncan fan. That would be quite a tandem with them two and Robinson serving in the Obi Wan Kenobi role.

I'd like very much to see

I'd like very much to see Garrett play in Atlanta. Most important though is that the

team picking Siler will be a good fit for him. He's not only a very talented player,

who has worked hard to make himself the fine prospect he is, he is also a very nice person, who never forgot the fans who supported him at ASU. I hope4 he does very well. Its also good for the ASU program, and for Dip Metress and Lenny

Carlson who helped mold him into the quality player he is.

Including his redshirt year,

Including his redshirt year, he's played organized ball a grand total of 6 years and he made himself an all-american.  Is there any doubt that he is a fabulous gem waiting to be polished?

Looks like he didn't get picked...Too bad...He deserved to get drafted. Maybe

he will still get a tryout with the Heat or Hawks. Will hope so.
