Former left fielder whose dream of playing for the Atlanta Braves never came to fruition. Instead, worked my way through college and got a degree in journalism, pulling off a rare feat: working in the field of my degree. Began working at The Augusta Chronicle in 1998 and have covered many exceptional events since then (12 Masters Tournaments, the 2001 PGA Championship, 1998 Peach Bowl, 2002, 2010 and 2011 SEC Championships, two of USC Aiken's three golf national championships, Augusta State's 2010 and 2011 NCAA Division I golf national championships and four of Augusta State's Division II Elite Eight appearances (men-2008-2010; women-2004) and 12 Augusta Futurities -- along with myriad high school state championship games). In 2008, had a streak of 100 consecutive days of stories in the paper (from January-April). Honored to win first place in the Georgia Press Association's Sports Writing contest in 2009. SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Welcome back, friends, to another day of exciting basketball action. We should have another stellar matchup between No. 4 Augusta State and No. 16 Christian Brothers. Tipoff in a a few minutes.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Christian Brothers 4, ASU 0, 17:50 left in the first half

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ASU 4, CB 4, 15:37 left

Jaguars not yet in sync on offense. But Garret Siler has four points on a putback dunk and a layup. ASU show some butterfles that should disappear as the game progresses.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CB 14, ASU 7, 10:17 left

Jaguars can't find the hole. They've missed eight of their first 11 shots. Fred Brathwaite missed an alley-oop dunk and then the putback. Only Siler and Ben Madgen have scored for ASU.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CB 19, ASU 9, 7:23 left

Jaguars playing sloppy -- 5 turnovers. CB has none. ASU shooting 31 percent from the floor.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CB 26, ASU 14, 3:32 left

Madgen's playing sloppy. Not in a rhythm. He has four points, but also three or four turnovers.

CB shooting 47 percent from the floor and has 1 turnover. And the Bucs are going to the line to shoot two.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CB 32, ASU 18, Halftime

Jaguars scored their second-fewest points in a half. Blue Crew is stunned right now.

ASU shot 37 percent in the first half, including a 1-for-7 effort from the perimeter. The team can't shoot that poorly again can they?

The Jaguars average 54 field-goal attempts a game. They've taken 19 so far.

Siler has 5 points, but he scored them all in the first six minutes. Madgen is 2-for-5 from the floor for 4 points. Brathwaite is 1-for-6 for 4 points.

ASU has 7 turnovers to CB's 2. The Bucs are shooting 46 percent from the field, including a 4-for-10 effort from three-point range.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two things going through my mind right now, beside the fact I have to use the restroom: Winona State trailed ASU by 9, 10, 11 points in the championship game and came back for the win.

Also, ASU trailed Central Oklahoma by double digits before turning it on the final 10 minutes of regulation in their Elite Eight opener last year.

Can the Jaguars make another comeback?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CB 36, ASU 26, 15:40 remaining

Jaguars showing signs of life. Brathwaite scored six in a row, including an alley-oop dunk. Caleb Brown just drove to the hole for a layup. He's about to shoot one free-throw attempt.

Madgen is still yet to get on track. He's got to find his confidence.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CB 39, ASU 34, 11:50 remaining

Jaguars making a valiant comeback. Daniel Dixon hit a three. Brown has drove to the hole twice for layups. He has 5 points, all this half. Madgen just scored from 15 feet.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CB 46, ASU 45, 7:46 remaining

Holy smokes! We've got ourselves a game. ASU briefly led by one on Brathwaite's three-point play, but Dixon turned it over and Reggie Peyton flew down court for a layup.

Siler's on the floor with three fouls.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ASU 49, CB 48, 6:19 remaining

Brown fed it inside to Siler for a layup. Then, Steve Smith drained a 10-foot baseline shot.

Kohs just forced Siler to commit his 4th foul. Ironically, Siler's not getting that call on the other end. Jason Killeen enters for Siler.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ASU 58, CB 51, 3:40 remaining

The Blue Crew is going nuts. Caleb Brown is playing his you-know-what off on both ends. He has 12 points, including a big 3 which stretched the lead to 5.

Jason Killeen is also playing his you-know-what off. He just blocked Kohs and forced him to miss a terrible shot.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ASU 60, CB 55, 1:44 remaining

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ASU 62, CB 55, 1:38 left

We called it on press row, Ken Gerlinger and I did. Smith threw the home-run pass to Brathwaite for a fast-break dunk.

ASU can smell the Final Four.

You can smell my Cherry Twizzlers on press row.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ASU 65, CB 57, 53.7 seconds left

Timeout here. Comeback for the ages. Don't call it historic (inside joke).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ASU 70, CB 62, FINAL

ASU advances to the Final Four tomorrow night. Come back later for post-game thoughts and to see who ASU is playing.
