LAST GAME: Augusta beat Fayetteville 4-2; Columbus lost to Mississippi Surge 2-0.
STANDINGS: RiverHawks (28-9-4, 60 points) 1st place; Cottonmouths (23-13-5, 51 points) 3rd place
Three nights, three home games and three chances for the RiverHawks to strengthen their grip on the Southern Professional Hockey League's top spot. They've already clinched a playoff spot, but that's hardly their priority. The RiverHawks, especially head coach Brad Ralph, want that top seed so they'll have home-ice advantage throughout the postseason.
How important is home-ice advantage? The RiverHawks are a league-best 16-2-2 at home. It's not just Augusta. This league seems tipped toward the home team. Seven of the league's nine teams have winning records at home. And of the 183 SPHL games played this season, the host team has won 103 times.

Go Hawks! If you folks haven't been to a game you are missing out. Most sports fans who don't care for ice hockey haven't given themselves a chance to understand the game. You need to go to 3 or 4 games to get the rules, then you are hooked if you like contact sports.
I agree with that! Took me 3
I agree with that! Took me 3 to get hooked, tad longer (and still learn new every game) to understand the rules, etc. But it's awesome entertainment for sure!!
