Have you seen Blake Griffin's dunk? Well, here it is. The NBA's most explosive rim rocker (arguably, perhaps) did it again Monday night against Kendrick Perkins and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Allow me to take advantage of this high-quality NBA moment to say that, as an NBA fan, I'm sick - SICK, I say! - of hearing people, especially college basketball fans, say they hate the NBA.
"They don't hustle!"
"It's all about ego!"
"There's no teamwork!"
"It's all about the money!"
Please. Do you think those same athletes you idolized at the college level go on to the NBA and suddenly become selfish ball hogs? Of course not. It's a different game, for sure. The NBA is a game of percentages. You get the ball in the hands of your playmakers and let them make plays (see above).
The NBA isn't yet into its most exciting part of the season. Just wait 'til the playoffs. You think the NCAA basketball postseason is something? It's is nothing compared to the NBA playoffs, which brings drama, excitement AND consistently produces the best two teams for a true championship series. Sure, March Madness offers fun times trying to figure out which group of underdogs are going to play way over their heads for a two- or three-week period. You also get one (or even multiple) quality top seeds that get upset early. Yes, ONE bad night erases three months of superior play. Maybe it's just me, but I don't get much satisfaction out of that. The only thing those upsets prove is that polls are rotten, flawed ways to rank teams (Careful, you'd agree with me 100 percent if I was talking about the BCS).
The NBA, on the other hand, offers seven-game series, which gives a much better indication of a team's worthiness to compete for a championship (MLB and NHL agree). Sure, there's still room for an upset, but a team has to have more than one good night/bad night for it to happen.
So, all that to say, maybe it's time to give the NBA a chance again. The drama is there. Will Lebron finally come through in the clutch? Are the Bulls finally ready for a title without MJ? Do the Hawks actually have a shot this year (if the playoffs started today, they'd have a first-round home series)? Is Kobe too old to lead the Lakers to another title?
If none of that sounds exciting to you, fine. Just watch the above video. This is the NBA you've been ignoring. It's only getting better.

Nice dunk. Still too bad the NBA didn't stay on strike. Agree to disagree.
