Shopgirl: Red is the color of the moment

Wow your valentine in this red draped dress from H&M. SPECIAL

Do you have exciting Valentine’s Day plans already? If you’ve got something to dress up for, you’re in luck because red is the color of the moment, from runways to mall shopping racks.

H&M has a really elegant shirred red ponte knit dress that you won’t freeze in, but will still get you looks. Best part – it comes in at less than $40.

If you’re worried about looking like a valentine in bright red, Wilfred has a deep red dress that won’t scream hearts and candies if you decide to wear it again — the Jeanie dress is under $80.

My absolute favorites, however, are from Undress and Silk Laundry. Undress has a tailored blazer dress in a rich red that is breathtaking, and would definitely warrant a second, third and fourth wear well into the rest of the season. Silk Laundry’s V dress is a gorgeous red slip dress with an asymmetrical ruffled hem and in a 100 percent silk textile that looks shiny and liquid as you walk.

WHAT’S NEW: Wow — Google Assistant, the Google version of Amazon’s Alexa or Apple’s Siri, expands its capabilities by the minute.

The latest update you may not be aware of is that Google Assistant can match up your voice to your individual Netflix profile when receiving commands to Chromecast via your Google Home devices.

Now there’s no accidental kid’s profile, or losing track of your personal queue amid the other profiles sharing your Netflix account - link your voice to the individual Netflix profile you use most often. This really changes the practicality of using voice commands on something like a Chromecast, and could be the next wave of AI personal assistance.

WHAT’S AFFORDABLE: The Italian American Club of the CSRA will be hosting its 36th annual Pasta Festival on Friday, Feb 2, at Immaculate Conception Catholic School for both lunch and dinner.

The festival of carbs will also include salad, bread, a choice of meatballs or sausage, the legendary homemade pasta sauce, and dessert if you’re up for it. You can dine in or take out your food, and plates are just $9.

What a cool opportunity to support a wonderful organization, learn more about the Italian American culture, and enjoy delicious food! For more information (or to give them a heads up for any big takeout orders), call (706) 869-8603. Lunch will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner will be from 4:30-8 p.m.
