Connecticut coach Randy Edsall might be a candidate to be Georgia Tech's next coach.

Connecticut's Randy Edsall was believed to be in Atlanta on Friday to interview for the head coaching vacancy at Georgia Tech, where he worked as an assistant coach in 1998.

He is thought to be the first outside candidate to interview for the opening.

A Connecticut official said Thursday night that Edsall traveled to Atlanta for the interview.

No Georgia Tech official would confirm the meeting with Edsall or provide any updates on the search on Friday.

Georgia Tech athletic director Dan Radakovich has identified only one candidate, defensive coordinator Jon Tenuta , who will serve as interim coach for the Jackets' bowl game.

Meanwhile, Baltimore Ravens coach Brian Billick is promoting the possible candidacy of assistant coach Rick Neuheisel , the former Colorado and Washington coach.

Other possible candidates include Florida defensive coordinator Charlie Strong ; Navy coach and former Georgia Southern coach Paul Johnson ; Florida State offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher ; Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp and Georgia Southern coach Chris Hatcher .

AUBURN: Formally offered coach Tommy Tuberville a two-year contract extension that would include a $200,000-a-year raise and run through 2013, according to newspaper reports.

Tuberville has been given a week to consider the offer, which would be worth a total of $19.8 million -- or $3.3 million a year -- The Huntsville Times reported on its Web site.

He would make $2.8 million in 2008 and receive an automatic $200,000 raise each year, according to The Times and The Birmingham News .

FLORIDA STATE: Bobby Bowden will be at Florida State for at least one more year, his attorney confirmed Friday.

"We've come to a handshake agreement," said attorney Russ Campbell of Birmingham, Ala. "It hasn't been finalized yet."

Bowden's existing contract, a five-year deal, expires in early January.

OKLAHOMA STATE: Coach Mike Gundy received a one-year contract extension.
