Pacers top initial Southeast Region poll

Jaguars not far behind

USC Aiken checked in at No. 1 in the inaugural Southeast Region Men’s Basketball poll of the season released this afternoon.

The Pacers enter tonight’s home game against Georgia Southwestern with a 22-3 record (14-1 Peach Belt), one game ahead of Georgia Regents (20-4, 13-2) in the league standings. The Jaguars play at Lander at 7:30 tonight.

Lincoln Memorial checked in at second in the poll, followed by Montevallo and Georgia Regents. Anderson checked in at fifth, followed by Georgia Southwestern, Mount Olive, Limestone, Carson-Newman and Newberry.

The No. 1 team in the Southeast Region at the conclusion of the conference tournaments next month will play host to the first three rounds of the NCAA Division II Tournament.
