Scott Thorp

 

Employer: Augusta University

Title: Associate vice-president for interdisciplinary research

Responsibilities: In this part-time position, Thorp will act as an advocate for the university’s research community, while keeping his current role as chairman of AU’s Department of Art and Design. His duties will include supporting career development for undergrads and graduate students as well as developing the research infrastructure in the areas of humanities, education, business, and science on the Summerville campus, and facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration among faculty throughout the institution.

Experience: Before joining AU in 2015, Thorp served 10 years at the Savannah College of Art and Design as a professor and design coordinator.

 

Dr. Sharad Ghamande

Employer: Augusta University

Title: Executive vice-chairman of the Medical College of Georgia’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

Responsibilities: Ghamande, who also is associate director for clinical research and trials and the Georgia Cancer Center at AU, will oversee clinical and educational affairs in the department. He will continue to serve as section chief.

Experience: He earned his medical degree from India’s Bombay University; and completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency at Boston Medical Center and Boston University, and his gynecologic oncology fellowship at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, N.Y.

 

Stephanie Truong

Employer: Life Management Group

Title: Licensed couple, family and play therapist

Responsibilities: She will work as a licensed marriage and family therapist; a registered play therapist; a Gottman-trained marriage counselor; a certified parent-child interaction therapist; and a prepare/enrich facilitator,

Experience: Truong specializes in treating relational difficulties, trauma, parenting challenges, depression, adolescent therapy, spirituality issues, childhood behavior problems, mood disorders, marital problems and anxiety disorders.

 

Allen Bonds

Employer: Market House Realty

Title: Director of operations and business development

Responsibilities: Bonds will be focusing on recruiting top-producing agents to the firm, expanding the high-end boutique property management subsidiary established under the name Towne Park Properties, and looking for ways to increase the firm’s philanthropic efforts within the community.

Experience: Beginning his career in real estate seven years ago, Bonds made his way through the ranks as a part-time advertising assistant and worked his way up to chief executive officer.

 

Mordecai Evans

Employer: Integra Business Brokers

Title: Senior business broker

Responsibilities: Evans offers professional services to his clients on buying a business or selling a business; mergers and acquisitions; and business valuations. He assists sellers in preparing and packaging their business for marketing, and assists buyers looking for a specific acquisition or merger.

Experience: Evans spent most of his professional career in the pharmaceutical industry, as a decorated sales professional. However, he is known by most as an entrepreneur because of his passion for starting and building businesses. He started his first business at age 10.

 

Jade Morey

Employer: Forward McDuffie

Title: President and CEO

Responsibilities: Morey will lead the umbrella organization that includes the Thomson-McDuffie Chamber of Commerce, Thomson-McDuffie County Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Development Authority of McDuffie County.

Experience: She has been director of existing industry and marketing for the Houston County Development Authority in Perry; southeast director of business development for 21st Century Voter Information; and development officer for the J. Whitney Bunting College of Business at Georgia College in Milledgeville.

 

Karen Lee

Employer: Hope For The Warriors

Title: Vice-president of advancement

Responsibilities: She will continue to lead the communications team for the Edgefield, S.C.-based national veteran service nonprofit, and will work with the vice-president of well-being to execute Hope For The Warriors’ organizational strategy.

Experience: Lee has worked in marketing and communications for more than 20 years.
