The founder of the Augusta-based startup social network Upliff Georgia, will be among the featured speakers at a monthly networking event for budding entrepreneurs.
The next 1 Million Cups gathering will be Oct. 4 from 8 to 9 a.m. at theClubhou.se, at 540 Telfair St.
Entrepreneurs, innovators, funders and all other interested community members are invited to attend the free event – served with coffee by Buona Caffe and donuts by Belair Donuts – which is designed to help build startup communities on a grassroots level.
Jonathan Larry will introduce Upliff and talk about the problems the online community solves and the impact it can have on a local and global level. Upliff is a platform where users are invited to share what’s good in their own life, their community and around the world. The company’s goal is to uplift and help people see life in a more positive way.
“1 Million Cups is a great opportunity for local entrepreneurs to share what they’ve been working on,” Larry said. “If you’re interested in what’s happening in the Augusta area’s growing startup community, I encourage you to connect with 1 Million Cups.”
The national 1 Million Cups program is designed to engage, educate and connect local entrepreneurs and mentors, based on the notion that entrepreneurs network and discover solutions over a million cups of coffee.
One Wednesday a month, two early-stage startups present their companies to an audience of mentors, advisers and other entrepreneurs. Each founder presents for six minutes, followed by a 20-minute question-and-answer session with the audience.
Any business less than 5 years old can present to the audience. Each company will be videotaped and have the opportunity to present at other 1 Million Cups across the country. To apply to present, visit www.1millioncups.com/augusta.
