The Georgia Department of Labor reported that 1,000 jobs were added to the Augusta economy in August.
In the state’s monthly employment report, released Thursday, the labor department said there were 400 more jobs in health and education. There were slight upticks in construction, state government and professional services.
There were also slight declines in retail and hospitality.
The employer report, which doesn’t include the self-employed, said there were 206,000 people working in August. That is up from July, but 3,300 jobs lower than August 2011.
