Unimin Corp., of Hephzibah, donated $1,000 to Hephzibah Elementary School to support the school's Accelerated Reader program. Jon Taylor, of Unimin, hands a check to Frances Ellison, the principal of Hephzibah Elementary. The money will also be used for incentive parties to urge pupils to meet their goals.
Rusty Marsh, the executive director of the Augusta Rescue Mission, thanks Richard Keyser, the manager of Sticky Fingers Restaurant, for preparing the hams and turkeys donated by the Augusta-Richmond County Fire Department for the mission's annual Warm Hearts Valentines Meal for the homeless and homebound. More than 50 volunteers served about 200 meals.
