New Huggies diaper will be made locally

The Kimberly-Clark plant in Beech Island is one of three facilities that will make the Huggies Little Movers Slip-On Diaper, which will be available in North America in August.

Kimberly-Clark's Beech Island facility has been chosen to manufacture the Huggies Little Movers Slip-On Diaper, the newest addition to the company's family care product line.

The slip-on diaper is disposable and slides on like underwear.

Mike Brunner, the facility manager for personal care at the Beech Island plant, said the project keeps the plant relevant.

"Any time we're given the opportunity to be a production facility for a new product, we're very excited," he said.

"It shows Kimberly-Clark's continued commitment to the Beech Island facility."

The new product will be manufactured alongside the existing products, with no new jobs created for now, Brunner said.

"We'll continue to watch and assess that, but at the moment we have the capability in-house," he said.

Huggies Little Movers Slip-On Diapers will be available in North America in August.

The slip-on diaper will also be manufactured at facilities in Paris, Texas, and Ogden, Utah.

The Beech Island plant is the largest Kimberly-Clark manufacturing facility in North America, employing 1,230 people.

In addition to Huggies diapers, the plant produces Pull-Ups training pants, Kleenex facial tissue, Cottonelle and Scott bath tissue, Cottonelle wipes and Viva towels.
