Evans shoe store closing Monday

Foot Solutions at 4219 Washington Road in Evans is closing its doors on Monday.

The franchise store in Mullins Crossing Shopping Center is going out of business because of the economy, said Paula James, a pedorthist at Foot Solutions.

"We opened in October 2008 and literally the next week was when the economy crashed," James said.

The store's overhead was high and it wasn't getting the necessary sales to stay in business, she said.

The franchise is owned by Marion Labor.

Foot Solutions specializes in orthopedic shoes and sells shoes and socks for diabetic patients, exercise shoes, dress shoes, sandals and support hose.

Marietta, Ga.-based Foot Solutions is a franchise company with more than 240 locations worldwide. The company was founded in 2000 by CEO Ray Margiano after a 20-year career in the foot care and pedorthic industry.
