The Web site also allows people to fund their travel dreams by having friends and family members “put money on their tab” and contribute toward their travel fund. Then, travelers can redeem the funds towards their travel through the Web site.

Have your spending habits changed because of the economic downturn? In a recent survey, Georgia Credit Union Affiliates found that 85 percent of Georgians report significantly reducing their spending habits within the last year.
The downturn has caused many consumers to be more prudent with their money and spending, said Phyllis Cochran, president and CEO of Augusta VAH Federal Credit Union.
Sonic Drive-In has declared Tuesday, Sept. 4 National Back-to-School Day and is offering its entire line-up of breakfast burritos for half price all day. Sonic is also introducing its new flatmelt sandwiches and breakfast burrito varieties to its menu for a limited time.
The new flatmelt sandwiches are the hickory steak and bacon flatmelt and hickory chicken and bacon flatmelt. The new breakfast burrito varieties include the zesty cheesesteak breakfast burrito and the smoked chipotle breakfast burrito. The breakfast burritos are available all day.
In celebration of Labor Day weekend, participating Burger King restaurants are selling their Real Fruit Smoothies for $1 starting Friday through Monday.
Guests can choose from three flavors: strawberry banana, tropical mango or raspberry. Typically served in 12, 16 and 20 ounce servings, the suggested retail price of a Real Fruit Smoothie starts at $2.29, according to a release.
To promote better health and nutrition habits, Subway restaurants and the Family Y of Greater Augusta have teamed up to introduce the CATCH program and Fresh Start Challenge.
Local Subway restaurants are inviting students to take the Fresh Start Challenge by tracking their good food and activity choices. Each student who mails in the completed entry form will receive a coupon for a free Subway Fresh Fit kid’s meal or six-inch sub sandwich.

Now that school is back in session, parents can start concentrating on the next big event in their children’s lives this year: Christmas.
Walmart is bringing back its Christmas layaway program a month earlier this year. Layaway will be available at stores nationwide Sept. 16 through Dec. 14, said Molly Philhours, spokeswoman for Walmart.
“One of the things that is new this year, you can sign up on Facebook by liking your local Walmart page to get access two days earlier on Sept. 14,” Philhours said.
Through the middle of next week, consumers can purchase a coupon book for half off through The Augusta Chronicle’s Daily Deal program. The coupon book is being sold for $10, which is 50 percent off the regular price. It is valid for the remainder of 2012.
The coupon book has deals at more than 60 local merchants and has 300 coupons valued at a total savings of $3,000, according to a release.
Wee-Peats Children’s Consignment will hold its semi-annual consignment sale Sept. 3 through Sept. 8. The sale will be held in the former Food Lion building at 3851 Evans to Locks Road in Martinez, said Amber Ramp, president of Wee-Peats Consignment LLC.
The sale is from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
