For all the eager ALDI shoppers, the discount grocery store chain will be opening its Aiken store in March.
Here’s the tip of the day:
ALDI, a discount grocery store, plans to open a new store at 2510 Whiskey Road in March, said Martha Swaney, a spokeswoman for ALDI.
The newly-constructed, 17,000-square-foot store will sell produce, meat and grocery items “for up to 50 percent less than the competition,” Ms. Swaney said.
One of ALDI’s benefits is the store doesn’t require “membership cards, coupon clipping or buying in bulk,” she said.

As we usher in 2009, this is a great time to reassess your financial habits and set some new goals. Here are some that you might want to consider:
1. Keep accurate records of your spending.
2. Set aside a certain amount of your paycheck for savings. Also, don't count out loose change. Start saving your coins in a piggy bank. You'll be surprised how much it adds up.
3. Establish a budget.
4. Trim your expenses. For instance, stop spending unnecessary money on “wants” so that you’ll have more for your needs.

Shoe Carnival on Augusta West Parkway is closing, and the store has some unbeatable bargains on shoes.

Shoe Carnival at 1343 Augusta West Parkway is closing on Jan. 18, said store manager Josh Cadle.
This location is having a sale for 70 percent off dressy and casual shoes. Also, all athletic shoes are 50 percent off, Mr. Cadle said.

If you’re searching for great prices on groceries, Food Lion will have a major sale starting Wednesday. The Washington Road store is closing, according to store employees, and this means savings for consumers.
Here’s the tip of the day:
Food Lion at 2525 Washington Road is closing its doors on Jan. 13, according to store employees. The store will have a major sale starting Wednesday to sell existing merchandise.
All products, except beer and tobacco, will be 30 percent off, said Karen Peterson, a corporate communications manager for Food Lion.

If you’ve got a Circuit City gift card, you can also redeem your gift at HHGregg. The store will accept Circuit City’s gift cards through Super Bowl Sunday weekend, which ends Feb. 1, 2009, according to Stephanie Sampiere, the vice president of corporate communications.

Consumers can use their Circuit City gift cards on any HHGregg purchase including washers and dryers, refrigerators, home appliances, laptop computers, gaming bundles and big screen televisions.
