After losing three of four at Charleston, Augusta returns home for a week-long homestand against two of the toughest teams in the South Atlantic League.
A fun storyline often mentioned during Braves games this season is Freddie Freeman's ineptitude against Marlins pitching. It obviously isn't fun to Freeman. But the fact that such a good hitter is struggling this much against one team raises eyebrows.
Games of July 14-21:
Jose Peraza, Braves AA: 3-6, RBI, SB
Kyle Kubitza, Braves AA: 1-2, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 BB
Luke Dykstra, Braves GCL: 2-4, 2B, 2 RBI
Mario Lisson, Giants AA: 2-5, 2B, 2 RBI
Brandon Bednar, Giants A+: 3-5
Travious Relaford, Giants SS: 3-5, 2B, RBI

Kannapolis turned the tables a bit on Augusta with a ninth-inning, eventual game-winning run in the series finale. The 1-0 win avoided a sweep and prevented Augusta's return to .500.

Wednesday, July 16 - Augusta 3, Kannapolis 2
For the second consecutive game, Augusta rallied in the eighth inning to win by one run. The GreenJackets got a little help this time.
Two consecutive singles opened the inning for Augusta, down 2-1. With runners on the corners, Chris Lofton grounded to the hole between shortstop and third base for an RBI single to tie the game at 2. On the same play, Kannapolis shortstop Tyler Shryock threw the ball into right field attempting a force out at second base.
Wednesday, July 16 - 7 p.m.

RHP Joan Gregorio (2014 A: 19.2 IP, 3.66 ERA, 2.92 FIP, 26.9 K%, 9 BB%, .208 BABIP)
A combination of a huge, timely hit and strong bullpen work gave Augusta the series opener over Kannapolis in 12 innings Tuesday night.
When you ask scouts or other evaluators about Augusta's Ray Black, and the responses range from positive expletives to just pure giggling, you know there's something special on the GreenJackets roster.
The scouting response to Black has been tremendous this season. I sit behind home plate among scouts during most of his home outings. At the beginning of the season, Black would throw his first fastball and the usual reaction from scouts was an expletive, followed by confusion as to who the guy is, followed by scrambling to write perfect notes.
