Meredith Legg, the all-time leading scorer in USC Aiken women's basketball history, is set to be inducted into the school's athletic hall of fame Friday night. For almost three years, she's been battling uveal melanoma, a rare form of cancer, which was originally found in her left eye. That tumor has been eradicated, but she is now fighting off cancer in her liver. Last year, she endured 12 rounds of chemoembolization and immunoembolization treatment to combat six tiny lesions, which were found either to have shrunk or remained stable in a checkup a few days ago.

It was about 6:30 p.m., maybe 7, on Nov. 16, 2002. I sat on the pew with a wire leading from my radio up the right arm of my tuxedo jacket. As my cousin got married to his beautiful wife, I listened to the vows with my left ear. In my right ear, longtime Bulldog play-by-play man Larry Munson screamed about Georgia's withering hopes of defeating Auburn and winning the SEC East Division title. Then on fourth down, Michael Johnson hauled in a pass from David Greene in the end zone in the waning moments to deliver a Bulldog victory.
