Action Dash, an inaugural Labor Day 5K run/walk and 1-mile fun run, netted $15,000 for the local programs of Action Ministries, organizers said.
Families in super hero costumes took to the streets to raise money for the agency, which specializes in hunger, housing and education programs for those in need.

Christian rock band Finding Favour will perform a free concert at Grace Baptist Church in Evans this month.
Finding Favour hails from Vidalia, Ga., and includes Blake NeeSmith on vocals, Ricky Dunn on lead guitar and piano, Dustin Daniels on bass, and Allen Dukes on guitar.
The concert begins at 6 p.m. July 29 at the church, 4945 Hardy McManus Road, Evans.

The two-day annual meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention began this morning in New Orleans, home of the Rev. Fred Luter, who is running unopposed for president of the denomination. He would be the first black president in the 167-year history of the Southern Baptist Convention.

You might remember Christian artist Lara Landon from concerts she's played at area churches over the years.
The singer-songwriter returns to Augusta for two more concerts next weekend. One raises school supplies for children in Harrisburg, where St. Luke United Methodist Church is located.

Shane & Shane and Phil Wickham join forces for a Christmas tour that stops in Aiken on Sunday, one of only 16 cities they'll hit in 18 days.
The three musicians take the stage at Cedar Creek Church's Banks Mill Campus, 3001 Banks Mill Road, Aiken, on Sunday, Dec. 11. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The concert is at 7.
They'll play some of eachother's tunes, as well as Christmas songs. Have a listen to the trio performing O Holy Night.

Last month, local rabbi David Sirull performed with the Three Kosher Singers in front of a large crowd at Imperial Theatre. The performance featured a newly penned composition, There’s No Place Like Augusta.
