It's do or die time for some area South Carolina teams. Midland Valley and Silver Bluff need to start finding ways to win if they want to play even one home game in the state playoffs. Aiken and South Aiken are just trying to make the postseason. With only about a month left in the regular season, quality losses aren't enough anymore.

Speaking of losses, my picks haven't exactly been stellar lately. Let's try this again.

Season picks: 25-19

I just had my best week of the season prediction-wise, so chances are my luck runs out this week. Here goes...

Jefferson Davis at Aquinas

Aquinas has looked impressive in five consecutive games and will again against this non-region foe. The Fighting Irish won 47-13 last season and will get their sixth win of this season. A trip to Lincoln County is next.

Aquinas, 42-14

I went 9-2 last week -- I underestimated Westside again in one of my losses -- and a few huge games this week could be close, with the Butler-Washington County and Laney-Dublin games two of the more intriguing games in the state.

Lakeside at Effingham County

I think we're already seeing the benefits of Lakeside's tough non-region schedule. The Panthers beat Greenbrier by 17 and will end a three-game slide against Effingham County this week.

Lakeside, 34-21
