Busch Stadium gets 2009 All-Star game

Busch Stadium in St. Louis will host baseball's All-Star game in 2009.


It gives St. Louis its first baseball All-Star game since 1966.

The 2007 All-Star game is scheduled for July 10 in San Francisco and the 2008 event is likely to be played at New York's Yankee Stadium, which is slated to be in its final season.

RANGERS: Are negotiating a minor league contract with Sammy Sosa that would allow the former slugger to attempt a comeback where he began his career.

CUBS: Pitcher Carlos Zambrano asked for a raise to $15.5 million in salary arbitration. Zambrano, who went 16-7 for Chicago last year and made $6.65 million, was offered $11,025,000.

ASTROS: Brad Lidge agreed to a $5.35 million, one-year contract, avoiding arbitration.

ROCKIES: Outfielder Matt Holliday agreed to a $4.4 million, one-year contract.

METS: Outfielder Endy Chavez, whose spectacular catch in Game 7 of the National League Championship Series saved a two-run homer, agreed on a one-year contract worth $1,725,000.

TIGERS: Avoided salary arbitration with outfielder Craig Monroe, left-hander Nate Robertson, right-handed reliever Fernando Rodney and infielder Omar Infante.

ANGELS: Francisco Rodriguez, who had a major league-leading 47 saves last season, avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $7 million contract.

WHITE SOX: Third baseman Joe Crede agreed to a $4.94 million, one-year deal, avoiding arbitration.

YANKEES: Newly-acquired reliever Luis Vizcaino reached agreement on a one-year contract worth $3 million before the sides exchanged salary arbitration.

ATHLETICS: Agreed to one-year contracts with outfielder Milton Bradley, infielder Marco Scutaro and right-hander Kiko Calero, avoiding arbitration.
