EDGEFIELD, S.C. --- Freestone peaches are in and daytime temperatures have moderated a bit, a profitable combination for local peach markets.

A North Augusta man struck the morning of May 5 by an 18-wheel tractor trailer on U.S. Highway 25 near the intersection of Bettis Academy Road in Edgefield County, S.C., has died.

EDGEFIELD, S.C. -- A 64-year-old Edgefield County woman became the county’s fifth traffic fatality of 2011 after her car crashed violently near a bridge around 8 p.m. Sunday.

Investigators were on hand Thursday to look into the cause of a Wednesday night fire.
