'Wind' is blowing
Performances of the play Inherit the Wind will be at 3 p.m. today and 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Aiken Community Playhouse, Washington Center for the Performing Arts, 126 Newberry St., Aiken.

Lincoln at library
The national traveling exhibit Abraham Lincoln: A Man of His Time, A Man for All Times, will be on display through Tuesday at the Nancy Carson Library, 135 Edgefield Road, North Augusta.

The James and Mary Oswald Distinguished Writers Series, featuring writer Jill McCorkle, will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3 at the Etherredge Center at the University of South Carolina Aiken, 471 University Parkway, Aiken.

The Thurmond Lake Sail and Power Squadron will teach a basic boating course consisting of four Tuesday and Friday sessions from 2 to 5 p.m. Feb. 24 and 27, and March 3, and noon to 3 p.m. March 6, at the McCormick Public Library, 201 Railroad Ave., McCormick.

The Aiken County Historical Museum 2009 Lecture Series will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays through Feb. 17 at the museum, 433 Newberry St. S.W., Aiken.

The City of Aiken State Accommodations Tax Committee is accepting funding requests for tourism-related projects that will take place July 1 through June 30, 2010.
State accommodation tax grants are available for qualifying nonprofit or government organizations.
