The University of South Carolina Aiken will hold a Helping Teachers Teach Writing workshop in June.
The program, focused primarily on helping middle school teachers, is being offered through the National Writing Project. Workshops are funded through a $30,000 grant, said Lynne Rhodes, a USC Aiken associate professor of English.
Only 15 spots are open for this year's workshop.
"The program consists of three components," Dr. Rhodes said. "Teachers themselves write and share their writing; teachers demonstrate best practices; and teachers will engage in reading and research."
Because of the limited space, teachers must be nominated by principals, Dr. Rhodes or teacher Ginger Dunker, of South Aiken High School.
